From a Child brought up in a Children’s Home to a Missionary

Camila was taken in our children home in 1993, at the age of 16 months. She is the youngest among five children. Her father was an alcohol addict and very aggressive, he beat her mother and the children.

Camila Ferreira Assumpcao

Camila’s mother was a gambler and did not take care of her children.  Camila was sick and undernourished when she came in our home.

Camila quickly settled in the children home: she became a healthy, gladsome and calm girl. She enjoyed going to school and always got high marks.

At the age of 10 years, Camila decided to follow Jesus. She was baptized in 2003. A short time later she suffered a blow of fate: Alberto, her brother, was shot in a hold-up. This tragedy hit Camila hard; she got into a crisis of faith. She did not know whether his brother knew Jesus or if he will be saved.

Camila overcame this crisis and her joyful and faithfully work in the church began. She has a great musical talent; she got involved with musical activities, the Sunday school and much more. In 2009, Camila asked our permission to visit her biological mother. She wanted to talk with her about Jesus.

Camila knows that God calls her to a special ministry since last year. After much conversation with the home parents, her call was confirmed. And then she saw clear: in February 2010, after her school graduation, she began her degree at the Theological Seminar in Ijuí to become a missionary. The children home administration supports Camila’s decision, also financially. She thanks everyone who made this path of life possible. Thank you for all your support, help and prayers!
